Bathroom 7
This bathroom was part of a larger renovation project. The entire room was gutted back to basics before any work began.
The floor was taken up as there was already movement — the room had not originally been designed to take the weight of a bathroom, and the joists were bowing under the load. The joists were reinforced using a sistering technique, and on further inspection it was also discovered that they were sitting on an old wooden lintel, which was removed and replaced with a reinforced concrete lintel.
The floorboards were reset and a layer of cement board laid on top before the large 1000mm tiles were laid throughout.
A new full suite was installed, including a low-profile shower tray and a freestanding bath.
Overall the bathroom was restored to a modern, stylish finish.
